“Margie has been a miracle for my child. Early on traditional teaching methods labeled him as one with learning disabilities and I sought help from a tutor. What I got was so much more. I would highly recommend Margie as a teacher, mentor, trusted advisor, and partner in your child’s learning."

“Margie came highly recommended to me by my Speech & Language Therapist. Our initial conversation confirmed that she was qualified in the programs that I knew through my own research and would be a good fit for my son. Her ability to go between math and spelling/reading was fantastic. Some weeks he needed more work in one area than another and she was able to seamlessly take him from one subject to another. Because I asked her to, Margie gave me extra work instruction to follow up at home with my child. Her advice was very helpful in getting us through some difficult homework experiences. In addition, she would occasionally leave some games and manipulatives for us to use with him at home. She was also very capable of handling my son and his negative attitude towards being tutored. I was always amazed at her patience and perseverance. My son has been able to maintain all his learning and accomplishments through the summer. Going into the next grade was never a problem or worry. Margie has been a lifesaver for our family and for our son’s self-esteem. He could not have come as far as he has without her.”

“My daughter has always had difficulty reading and writing. She was tested by the school system, but did not qualify for extra help through the school. As a parent, I was concerned that she would “fall between the cracks.” I saw the frustration and anxieties she suffered each day, not feeling she was smart enough. Margie was the answer to a parent’s prayer. Through Margie’s intervention, she helped my daughter build confidence and self-esteem. My daughter’s teachers are amazed by her transformation. She was an average C student and has now become an A/B student. Her teachers have even recommended she take honors classes. I know this happened only because Margie made the difference. Margie’s knowledge and patience has allowed my daughter to succeed. I will never be able to thank her enough."

“Margie Thompson is an outstanding educator. Professional, educated and experienced, she has a remarkable ability to relate to her students and parents. She is clearly very intelligent, intuitive and insightful. My son Julian was struggling with his language for about 2 years. Margie was able to show him ways and make him understand what no one was able to in 2 years, and managed to integrate fun activities in her lessons. She is a true inspiration to teachers, students and parents and I believe any child to be very lucky to have her as a teacher!”

“My daughter has been a client of “Miss Margie” for over four years now. In the beginning, in second grade, we learned that my daughter was having great difficulty, not just in reading, but actually sounding out words. We discovered that she was memorizing them. Miss Margie had to basically start from scratch, to unlearn and then relearn, the way to learn to read at the phonemic level. We were devastated that we had lost so much time, but with Miss Margie’s patience and tenacity, my daughter was able to make up for lost time in no time. As her skills grew, Miss Margie evolved to be my daughter’s academic support system vs. limiting the benefit to reading. We consider Miss Margie an extension to our daughter’s educational experience. Her customized approach to specific problem areas has helped in improved grades and self-esteem. My daughter always looks forward to working with her every week.”

“Our son, Colin, has been working with ‘Miss Margie’ for more than a year now and has truly made progress with her help and support. Our son is on the autism spectrum and regrettably suffers from fairly significant learning disabilities as well. Even though we’ve retained him a year in public school, he is still behind his classmates. When he was beginning to read and truly struggling, the school was focusing on sight word memorization and the like versus teaching him a more robust way to learn like the use of phonics. I had heard about Lindamood-Bell, Orton-Gillingham and other teaching methods and firmly believed that these types of specialized training were a must to help Colin. I searched for at least a year to find someone like Margie with diversified training and only found her after speaking with many professionals. I was so glad that we found her. She’s a critical member of ‘Team Colin’ and has truly made a difference. She’s always in close contact and on top of whatever is being taught in the classroom to support Colin with whatever he’s working on whether it’s spelling, reading comprehension, math, etc. In addition to her extensive training and experience, I can’t say enough for how kind and patient Margie is. She’s a genuinely kind human being and loves what she’s doing. Seeing her clients grow and progress is truly her passion. Because of this, I have personally referred Margie to several other close friends who have children who also are struggling. We are so pleased to have found Margie with such tremendous talent to help us through our son’s educational journey."
