About Orlando Learning Specialist & Academic Tutor Margie Thompson

Margie Offers Years of Experience Helping Children Reach Their True Academic Potential!

Even before Margie Thompson began going to school, she realized she was lucky because learning was easy for her. This was not true for her brother.

It was not a question of intelligence, but rather a learning disability.  As she watched her brother’s struggles and frustration, her heart was filled with a desire to help children reach their true learning potential.

With a dual background in Elementary Education and Communicative Disorders, Orlando Reading Tutor and Learning Specialist Margie Thompson has been providing services to students in the Central Florida area for more than 22 years.  During her long career, she has served as a classroom teacher, remedial reading therapist, educational consultant, executive function coach, homeschool consultant, and enrichment learning tutor. With this amount of experience, Margie has the ability to work with children of all ages and levels, while delivering the results needed to help them succeed academically.

How does a learning specialist differ from a regular tutor?

The answer lies in the fact that learning specialists offer years of experience and have specific training with programs like Lindamood-Bell, Orton-Gillingham, and much more. In addition, learning specialists implement tactics that cater to your child’s unique style of learning. Thus, because one size does not fit all, sessions are conducted in a one-to-one setting. Each lesson is individualized for the specific techniques and materials needed to address a student’s needs.
